FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
What Does Wundex – Die Wundexperten GmbH Offer for Home Care Services?
We provide home care services with expert clinical support, individualized consultation, and customized wound treatment concepts to promote optimal healing outcomes for patients in outpatient care.
Is our nursing staff still involved in wound care?
Yes. Your caregivers remain responsible for routine dressing changes. We work closely with your team and are available at all times for professional consultation and clinical exchange.
How can I schedule a consultation?
You can reach us via telephone, email, or through our contact form. Our contact details are listed on our website. We are happy to schedule an appointment that fits seamlessly into your workflow.
What does collaboration with Wundex look like?
After the initial contact and introduction of the assigned wound care specialist, we conduct a needs assessment. Once the patient signs our consent form, we assume responsibility for wound management—individually tailored and in close coordination with your team.
How does the collaboration work in practice?
Following submission of the physician’s treatment order and mutual agreement, we take over the patient’s wound management, maintain regular communication with your home care service, and ensure comprehensive documentation of wound progression. Your staff will receive training in the application of modern wound care products.
Do we need to order the wound care materials?
No. We handle the procurement and delivery of all prescribed materials—independently of manufacturers and at no cost to your patients.
How do you coordinate with treating physicians?
We align our therapy recommendations directly with the attending physician and supply wound care materials according to their prescriptions.
What types of wounds do you treat?
We manage all wound types, including:
- Chronic wounds (e.g., pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, venous and arterial ulcers)
- Acute wounds where specialized care is needed
Do our nurses need special training?
No, our certified team handles wound management. However, if desired, we offer case discussions to deepen knowledge and enhance practical skills among your staff.
Do you also offer training for nursing staff?
Yes. Our subsidiary, WundWissen, provides hands-on training and continuing education programs to improve wound care practices and support better healing outcomes.
Who pays for Wundex services?
Our services are typically reimbursed by the patient’s statutory health insurance. Billing is based on the physician’s order—patients may only be responsible for legally required co-payments, if applicable.
What happens when a wound has healed?
Once the wound has fully healed, Wundex’s care and support conclude automatically. Should further wound management be required in the future, our services can be resumed at any time.
What happens in emergencies or outside regular service times?
Our wound care specialists are flexible and can be reached promptly. In urgent cases, we organize short-notice visits and coordinate directly with the treating physician if needed—to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care.
